Sometimes, it's better to leave well enough alone...
Such is the case with "Be Cool", the third and (thankfully) final installment in the Chili Palmer series. Palmer (John Travolta), has decided to get out of the often fickle movie business, and sets his sights on the music industry. With his business partner (Uma Thurman), the plan is to make young up-and-comer Linda Moon (Christina Milian) the next big sensation. That is, until the competition gets wind of it...
The film becomes predictable at this point, despite the all-star cast (Danny DeVito, Vince Vaughn, Harvey Keitel, Cedric the Entertainer, James Woods, Andre Benjamin, and Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson) which props it up. You already know how it's going to end, but getting there is, at times, painful. There are also appearances by some of the music industry's top headliners of the day (Aerosmith, The Black Eyed Peas, and The Pussycat Dolls), but they really do nothing to save this flick from itself.
"Be Cool" is from MGM Home Entertainment and is rated PG-13 for violence, sensuality, and language. Running time: 115 mins.
Score: 1 out of 5 stars
The Movie Guy sez... This film was a disappointment and is probably the worst outing for John Travolta to date (unless you're old enough to remember the "Welcome Back Kotter" TV series from the 70s).
